Go-Pro or Go Home Rail Jam-Saturday, February 11, 2012

Skiers Only!!  Sponsored by Go-Pro, Jibs for Cribs and Mount Southington.  Two age brackets (15 and under and 16 and over). A valid lift ticket and Drop Zone Pass or Season Pass with Drop Zone required prior to registration. There is a $10 Registration fee.  Registrations are from 10am-11:45am in the Red Barn Cafeteria and require a parent or guardian signature if under 18 years of age. Contestants will have an opportunity to practice  from 12-12:30 pm. Competition for ages 15 and under is from 12:30-1:00 pm; 16 and over from 1:00-1:45 pm.  Helmets are required for all competitors. Prizes offered by Salomon and Go-Pro!!  The grand prize winner will receive a helmet camera from Go-Pro!!

Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge, February 18, 2012

The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge is a free, fun race open to all ages and abilities.  A valid lift ticket or season pass is required along with a Signed Release/Waiver (those under 18 years of age need a Parent/Guardian signature.  Come out and enjoy free Mountain Dew samples, as well as free samples from other sponsors.  Prizes will be awarded to all competitors.  Purchase your lift pass at the ticket window then head over to the Alpine Eatery for early registration at 8:00am. The first 100 registered racers get a free t-shirt.  Start time for the race is 11am followed by an Awards Ceremony in the Alpine Eatery at approximately 3pm.  With male/female and snowboard/skier categories for many age groups- there are many opportunities to be a top finisher.  This is a family fun day so come out and join us for great food on our outdoor deck!!!
 

PEPSI DAY - February 22, 2012

Come sample all your favorite Pepsi products, and register to win a snowboard. Feel the fun at Mount Southington.

Winter Carnival, February 25, 2012

A great day of events and activities for the entire family!!  Come enjoy the atmosphere with great food on our outdoor deck and music from our DJ!!!  The Face Painter will also be here in our Alpine Eatery from 12-3pm.  "Pucky" from CT Whale will also stop by in the afternoon for a visit, so bring your camera!!  You don't want to miss our famous Cardboard Box Race- make a sled or be a spectator- either way you're sure to have a blast!!  Judging for the vehicles starts at 3pm, and the race begins at 4pm.  Prizes awarded for the Best Construction, Fastest Time, Worst Crash, and Overall Presentation(Costumes encouraged!).  The Grand Prize Winner will take home $100 Cash & a Trophy!  

Rules for all Cardboard Box Racers:

Cardboard Box Race-All participants must have a valid lift ticket, season pass, or employee pass.       

-You may participate individually or in teams, but the total weight carried in the box cannot exceed 400 lbs or 4 competitors.  Each box is allowed up to 3 race starting assistants.

-Due to the popularity of this event and time constraints, we need to limit the number of boxes registered to 40.  Race Waivers may be filled out the day of the race but early registrations are suggested to ensure your place in the race.

- Signed registrations are being accepted at the Mt Southington Business Office.   Every participant is required to sign a Race Release Waiver.  Those under 18 years of age must have a Parent/Guardian signature on the Registration/Race Waiver

-Final signed registrations must be received by 11am the day of the event.  NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!! 

-Helmets are strongly encouraged.

-All vehicles must be built solely of cardboard, tape, glue, paint, and paper.  No industrial pressed cardboard, plastic, wood, staples, ropes, twine, or wire will be permitted.

-The size of each vehicle is limited too:  7ft long, 5ft wide, & 7ft tall.

-Cardboard vehicles must have a front, rear, and at least 2 sides.

-No waxing the bottom of your cardboard box, however tape is acceptable.

-To qualify for prizes at least one box rider must complete the race course.

-Each team is responsible to clearing & removing their vehicle from the Mt Southington Ski Area.

Drop Zone Slopestyle-February 25, 2012

Snowboarders only.  Prizes are provided by The Cutting Edge and will be awarded for the top 3 in each category.  $10 Entry Fee and Waiver must be signed by a Parent/Guardian if under 18 years of age.  Lift ticket, Drop Zone access card or season pass with Drop Zone access required prior to registration.  The registration is from 10-11:30am in the Red Barn Cafeteria.  Helmets must be worn by all participants.  Practice from 11:00am-12:00pm.  Competition begins at 12pm. 

Hawaiian Luau and Cookout - March 3, 2012

The luau party is back with island music and lots of fun!!  Wear your favorite Hawaiian outfit and enjoy the atmosphere complete with hot and tasty food on our outdoor deck!!!  Hawaiian Leis will be handed out!  Fun giveaways and prizes for the Best Dressed Hawaiian outfit. 

 

SKI SWAP - 2011

SKI SWAP - 2010This year's Ski Swap will be held the weekend of October 22nd and 23rd in the Red Barn Cafe.

Hours are:  Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 11am-3pm.

Items will be checked in on Wednesday, October 19th between Noon and 8pm. Only new or gently used, current equipment will be accepted.

Items that were not sold can be picked up on Wednesday, October 26th between Noon and 8pm along with payments for items that were sold

Any items not picked up by October 27th will be donated to a charity of our choice.

 

 

Winter FunFest 2011, XL Center in Hartford, CT Nov. 19-20

Be sure to stop by and visit us at the CT Winter FunFest at the XL Center in Hartford, CT the weekend of November 19-20.  Stop by our booth for a drawing every hour for lift passes to our mountain for the 2011/2012 Ski Season.   Learn about all the great things Mount Southington has to offer!!

National Safety Week, January 14-21, 2012

Spend the week skiing with us and learn about safety at our mountain.  Don't forgot to stop by the Alpine Eatery on Sunday, January 22nd from 11am-1pm to color a National Safety Week Poster!!  All entries receive a complimentary hot cocoa.

Retro Day, January 29, 2012

Get out your old and historic ski clothes and hot fluorescent gear- it's time for a groovy day on the slopes remembering the good ole' days.  Solid Gold Oldies will be provided by our DJ.  Prizes will be awarded for the Most Original Ski Outfits.  Maybe we'll even see a skiing Elvis!!
