A great day of events and activities for the entire family!! Come enjoy the atmosphere with great food on our outdoor deck and music from our DJ!!! The Face Painter will also be here in our Alpine Eatery from 12-3pm. "Pucky" from CT Whale will also stop by in the afternoon for a visit, so bring your camera!! You don't want to miss our famous Cardboard Box Race- make a sled or be a spectator- either way you're sure to have a blast!! Judging for the vehicles starts at 3pm, and the race begins at 4pm. Prizes awarded for the Best Construction, Fastest Time, Worst Crash, and Overall Presentation(Costumes encouraged!). The Grand Prize Winner will take home $100 Cash & a Trophy!
Rules for all Cardboard Box Racers:
-All participants must have a valid lift ticket, season pass, or employee pass.
-You may participate individually or in teams, but the total weight carried in the box cannot exceed 400 lbs or 4 competitors. Each box is allowed up to 3 race starting assistants.
-Due to the popularity of this event and time constraints, we need to limit the number of boxes registered to 40. Race Waivers may be filled out the day of the race but early registrations are suggested to ensure your place in the race.
- Signed registrations are being accepted at the Mt Southington Business Office. Every participant is required to sign a Race Release Waiver. Those under 18 years of age must have a Parent/Guardian signature on the Registration/Race Waiver.
-Final signed registrations must be received by 11am the day of the event. NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!
-Helmets are strongly encouraged.
-All vehicles must be built solely of cardboard, tape, glue, paint, and paper. No industrial pressed cardboard, plastic, wood, staples, ropes, twine, or wire will be permitted.
-The size of each vehicle is limited too: 7ft long, 5ft wide, & 7ft tall.
-Cardboard vehicles must have a front, rear, and at least 2 sides.
-No waxing the bottom of your cardboard box, however tape is acceptable.
-To qualify for prizes at least one box rider must complete the race course.
-Each team is responsible to clearing & removing their vehicle from the Mt Southington Ski Area.
